Bővebb ismertető
INTRODUCTION
My name is Alimed and I am Palestinian. Palestine is not a country and you won't see its name on most maps. It is a historical region which is now part of a country called Israel. It is the home of two different groups of people - the Palestinian Arabs and the Israeli Jews. My family and I left Israel because of the terrible violence and fighting between these two groups, who are both struggling to claim the land for themselves.
I'd like to tell you about my old home -not just about the troubles and fighting, but also about the people, the countryside and our way of life.
There are over 4.5 million Palestinians in the world. About 2 million live in Israel. Another 2.5 million of them live in exile in other countries. Many live in neighbouring Arab countries, others live in North Africa and some live further away in the United States and other western countries. Today, there are 2 million Palestinian refugees registered by the United Nations.
