THE CASTLE OF PRAGUE AND ITS METAMORPHOSESX rague has always retained its peculiar and undefinable atmosphere of a historical city connected, however, by innumerable and often invisible links with contemporary life and its conditions. Its historical and architectural memorials are attractive, and not dry and mute like parts of a historical collection.This is best illustrated by the very Prague Castle. It captivates its visitors at first glance by its surpizing extent and unusual layout, as well as by the process of its development. There are only a few castles in Europe and none of them of such importance which have been capable of retaining such continuity and harmony of historical styles.
