Base Form An auxiliary verb which is used with a main verb to show a particular
attitude such as possibility, obligation or prediction.
Auxiliary Verb A form of the verb that can be used in compound tenses of the verb or as an adjective. There are two types; the past, usually ending in -ed; and the present, ending in - ing.
Modal A noun formed from a verb and ending in -ing. Also called a gerund.
Participle The form of the verb which has no letters added to it. Also called the infinitive.
-ingNoun A verb which is used with a main verb to form tenses, negatives, questions etc.
