Preface This 43rd edition of Current Therapy continues the tradition established by the late Howard Conn in 1949. Each year, a new edition is published offering fresh information from new authors who are recommended by authorities in that field. This year, more than 75% of the material is entirely new and the remainder is thoroughly revised and updated. Premenstrual syndrome has been added as a new topic in view of the attention it has been receiving in the literature and in the public press. Our goal is to provide the practicing physician with an up-to-date definitive reference for managing problems frequently encountered in practice. The authors are experts who recommend the drugs and therapeutic methods they have found most effective when a large number of possibilities exist. Often these recommendations are based on their extensive experience or recent research and may not yet be reported in the traditional literature.
