He considered teliing her that he planned to escape, that he felt he was suffocating, that he was leaving Jane, to see about living somé more satisfactory kind of life. He considered discussing how he felt about the prospect of leaving his children; he loved the boys and couldn't bear to imagine how they'd react to his going. He wondered what her reactions would be if he told her how lovely and lovable he found her, or what her answer would be if he asked why she'd decided to move to New York just when she was starting to make a real name for herself here . . .
