Bővebb ismertető
Preface This volume is designed for the house officer and practicing physician as a guide to the management of hospitalized children. There are many pocket handbooks that cover all aspects of practical patient care. They usually focus on the description, evaluation, and management of various diseases and disease processes, though not necessarily under the same cover. Existing manuals utilize either long narratives or complicated outline formats, making the extraction of practical information difficult. The result is the "bulging white coat syndrome," pockets stuffed with a variety of quick reference volumes. The more inclusive the manual, however, the more it usually approaches textbook size, rendering it impossible to fit into the already overflowing pocket library. Diagnosis and Management of the Hospitalized Child fills the gap and provides complete, up-to-date information organized by subject in a minimai amount of space. It includes a brief discussion of the disease entity or clinical syndrome, a review of the signs and symptoms, a differential diagnosis, pathophysiology (in modular easily understandable flowchart form), comprehensive stepwise diagnostic plans and various sequential treatment protocols. Appendixes include handy, rapidly accessible reference material, drugs and their dosages, laboratory tests and their interpretation along with other material required for comprehensive management of children and adolescents. A bibliography is alsó included which provides access to in-depth information. This handbook is all that is required in the white coat pocket of pediatricians and other physicians who treat hospitalized children.
