Bővebb ismertető
Millions of travellers through the years have crossed the Alps towards the South, to fali in love with this beautiful country. If you have not already been to Italy, this little book will, we hope, encourage you to get to know it. THE STRUCTURE OF THE COUNTRY Italy, a totál area of about 150,000 sq. miles, consists of the Italian Alps, the Plain of Lombardy, the Apennine peninsula, Sicily, Sardinia and somé smaller islands, e.g. the Lipari Islands with the volcano of Stromboli. Though Etna in Sicily and Marmolada in the Dolomites both rise to more than 10,000 ft., the Italian mountains generally are lower than this. Except for the Plain of Lombardy, the soil is not very fertile, but the Italians farm it extensively.
