FOREWORDIt was a great honour and privilege for the Pázmány Péter Catholic University tohost the conference of the Federation of European Catholic Universities entitledGlobalisation and European Society - Contribution of the Catholic Universitiesto an Ethical Answer" which was held between 19 and 21 April 2001. This wasthe first time that FUCE has held its Conference at one of its member universitiesfrom Central-Eastern Europe. During the conference high-ranking academicsrepresenting different disciplines such as Theology, Law, Information Technology,Political Sciences and Economics analysed some ethical questions arising in ourvery rapidly changing World from their specific viewpoints and highlighted someof the potential answers from a Catholic perspective. In these present times we areconstantly faced not only with the ever new and evolving aspects of globalisationbut also their sometimes dramatic consequences. This book encompasses the textof the lecturers and summaries of the contributions given either in French or inEnglish reflecting the bilingual nature of the conference.
