1. List of Symbols
Quantity Symbols
1. Instantaneous values of varying quantities are identified with lower-case symbols, e. g.
i. V, p.
2. Peak values of periodic functions, pulse amplitudes, various average values and DC parameters (DC voltage. DC current) are designated with upper-case symbols, e. g. I. V, P.
Subscripts for Quantity Symbols
1. Resulting quantities measured from a given zero level are denoted with applying uppercase symbols in their subscripts, e. g. ic. Vbe-
2. Small letter subscripts refer to average values of varying quantities, e. g. ic, Ic. Vbe. Vbe
3. Peak, average as well as r.m.s. values use the following subscripts: for peak values and amplitudes: M. m
for r.m.s. values: eff, RMS
for average values: AV, av
4. Examples of the application of the symbols.
The figure represents a transistor collector current consisting of a direct current and a
varying component.
