A Martian Comes to Dinner
The lights in the chandelier began to wink. The bulbs went out, one by one, sounding like firecrackers, and I felt the electricity zap into my body. With each zap I grew a little taller, a little slimier. The skin on my nose began to tingle. Out of the corner of one horrified eye, I could see the tip glow emerald green.
My feet began tapping. My hands, now scaly claws, were twitching. I could feel the Heebie-Jeebies inside my skin begin to come alive. They were waking up, and they were hungry.
Dr. Vektor munched his dinner roll with gusto. "Best Martian costume I've ever seen," he said, regarding me with admiration. "Although," he added, "you did overdo the goo on your face."
Goo? What goo? I felt my forehead with my scaly green claw. It was cold, wet, and distinctly rubbery.
