rTaming the JittersWho hasn't had a case of the jitters? In "Ask Arizona: Curing the (H/ccm/j/) Jitters" (pages 6 and 7), Arizona struggles to remain calm during a school presentation after nervously hiccupping her way through a test.As a kid, I sometimes had the jitters. I'd get them right before a piano recitalor before a test or an oral book report. Before the start of each school year, I'd get back-to-school jitters. Would I like my new teacher? Would he or she like me? Would I do well?I learned to tame my jitters by thinking back to prior experiences. Even though I was nervous, my piano recitals and book reports nearly always went fine, and all those first days of school were actually a lot of fun. I discovered that the more challenges you meet, the more successes you have. What situations give you the jitters? How do you cope? I hope you'll write and tell me.Your friend.Christine French Cully, Editor in Chief
