Young children are curious investigators, busy making sense of the world around them. So In "That's Silly!" on pages 18 and 19 In each issue, we Invite children to use what they are learning to decide what's silly In these colorful Illustrations of everyday life.
When 1 share "That's Silly!" with children, they respond enthusiastically. Hands shoot up quickly when 1 ask, "What silly things do you see?" They can all find silly things, but some children have difficulty describing or explaining why something is silly. Children will need a lot of practice and encouragement to clearly express what they see and think. "That's Silly!" can help them develop this skill.
Your child will have fun exploring and talking about this month's illustration of a silly airport baggage-claim area. And you'll have fun, too, knowing that the laughter and conversation are helping your child approach the printed page with eagerness, curiosity, and confidence— a great start on the road to becoming a successful reader. I hope you enjoy sharing this Highlights High Five'" issue with the children in your life.
Sincerely,
