HOW MUCH AND HOW MANY
Everything you eat and wear and buy, the streets and land around you, the house you live in, the rain, wind, and snow, the sea, the stars, and the days, have been measured or weighed or counted in some way.
The ways of measuring and counting this variety of things are almost endless. Sometimes a single thing can be measured or weighed in a dozen different ways.
Suppose you worked in a lumberyard at a seaport.
You know that lumber is measured in board feet. A board foot is 1 foot long, 1 foot wide, and 1 inch thick. After all, you're not dealing in anything but lumber, so this looks pretty easy.
