In all probability he had at times re-minded her, while she was thus engaged, that she was sitting too far into the night, that she ought to go to bed and get some rest. But she had answered that the garment upon which she was working must be mended then and there, otherwise James or Jude or Simon would have nothing to wear tomorrow; that this was the wearer's sole dependence, inasmuch as no new coat was to be had.Now you who are in youth doubtless do not know
