Notes on using the WorkbookHow is the Workbook organised? This Workbook is organised in three main parts as follows:Grammar practice Vocabulary development Vocabulary reviewWhat is the main purpose of each part? Grammar practiceThe purpose of this part is to provide additional practice activities relating to the work in the Students' Book. The sequencing of the grammatical focus corresponds to the order in the Students' Book. It is recommended that these activities be set for homework or self-access study. All answers are given in the Key, but some are more open-ended and will need to be checked in class.Vocabulary developmentThe purpose of this part is to offer learners opportunities for developing their vocabulary. The units do not correspond directly to units in the Students' Book but help learners to understand the different ways in which words are used, and how they relate to each other. Each unit takes a different area of vocabulary focus - for example, word-building (affixation), words that often occur together (collocation), multi-part verbs. A full list is given in the map of the Workbook that follows the Contents. These units may be done in any order. All answers are given in the Key but the more open-ended tasks will need to be checked by the teacher.Vocabulary reviewThis part focuses more directly on words presented in the Students' Book. Vocabulary is topic-related to the word groups that occur in the Skills and Vocabulary parts of the Students' Book. It is recommended that learners are directed towards these units as homework after finishing the corresponding units in the Students' Book. All answers are given in the Key, but the more open-ended tasks will need to be checked by the teacher.
