Communicative language teaching brought attention to the importance of communication skills; however, it still largely neglected the learner's point of view. With the more recent emphasis on learning to learn and lifelong learning, the focus has shifted to viewing the learner as an active agent operating within a context and connecting with other people. To be effective communicators in foreign languages, learners need some understanding of themselves and their communication partners as cultural beings, how this influences their communication and the nature of the context in which their communication takes place.As stated in the Common European Framework, In an intercultural approach, it is a central objective of language education to promote the favourable development of the learner's whole personality and sense of identity in response to the enriching experience of otherness in language and culture.,,This presentation will attempt to describe how intercultural competence can be fostered in foreign language teaching and learning at universities. A képzési cél megvalósításához elengedhetetlen a magas szintű általános és szakmai nyelvismeret.Előadásunk első részében az Idegen Nyelvi és Kommunikációs Tanszék által oktatott kötelező és választható idegen nyelvi tantárgyak tartalmát és követelményeit ismertetjük, különös tekintettel a szakmai kommunikációs tárgyakra (interkulturális kommunikáció, menedzser kommunikáció, üzleti tárgyalások, nemzetközi tárgyalástechnika). Ezeknek a tantárgyaknak a kidolgozásakor célunk az volt, hogy a hallgatók leendő munkahelyükön megfeleljenek az idegen nyelven folytatott szóbeli és írásbeli kommunikáció kihívásainak.
